Hsin-Ya looked back on her previous postcards and noticed that she likes to use colors to represent different ideas. She also wanted her postcard to be very inclusive and have all values in it equally. She was inspired by the gay pride flag, and used each color stripe to represent the six most important elements in her design process. She connected the original meanings of the colors to the design values she associated with it; for example, on the pride flag, red symbolizes meaningful life, and in her design value red is associated with self-awareness and reflection.
