For this postcard, Alex was inspired by the act of designing for other people’s wants and needs. Her activity was to design a linocut print stamp for her dad. Each drawing on the sequence in the postcard is a new idea she had for the stamp, and the ideas combine into the final print. She started with a heron, her dad’s favorite bird, and then added on the moon, water and land, and then she decided on a setting that had all those components. Altogether, this project was designed as a gift for her dad, embodying the idea of designing for others. See the back of the postcard for the key and other details!
